No6 The Emerald City of Oz (L.Frank Baum)
<story>
Nome King again. He planned to attack Oz with other monsters. On the other hand, Dorothy enjoyed a sightseeing tour with Uncle Henry and Aunt Em in Oz. Ozma notice the Nome King's plan? How she save Oz without army.
<impression>
Baum wanted to write many other stories, so he would have end the Oz series by this book. This book is worthy of the last book, full of the ozzy atomosphere. The series continued by childres's demands, after all.
No7 The Patchwork Girl of Oz (L.Frank Baum)
<story>
The Munchkin boy Ojo set out on a journey for 5 materials to rescue Unk Nunkie. But on his way, he know one of them is forbidden to take by Ozma. Does Ojo break the rule ? How Ozma judge him? Can Ojo get 5 meterials and rescue his Uncle?
<impression>
This book seems to be said one of masterpiece of Oz series. Yes, I agree it. What a marvelous character the Patchwork Girl is! When I read this book in my childhood, I couldn't notice her charm. I thought merely "what a noisy girl!" But now I can understand her tasteful character.
No8 Tik-tok of Oz (L.Frank Baum)
<story>
Queen Ann of Oogaboo, which located deep mountains in Winkie, start the travel to the dominaton of the world with improvised army. On the other hand, the ship was wrecked by the storm, Betsy got to the seashore near Oz. She met the Shaggy man and he said he would go to Nome's underground kingdom looking for his brother. Betsy join him.
Can the Shaggy man rescue his brother? How about Queen Ann's ambition? Can Betsy return her home?
<imperssion>
I can't realize the difference between Dorothy and Betsy. Why did Baum need to make a new character Betsy? And the Shaggy Man! He is only a middle-aged man having "Love Magnet", isn't he? Without Love Magnet, he is...what?
No9 The Scarecrow of Oz (L.Frank Baum)
<story>
While Trot and Cap'n Bill living in California enjoyed boating, they were dragged in a big whirling current and drifted to Jinxland of Oz. In Jinxland, though Princess Gloria and Pon the gardener love each other, King Krewl, who is an uncle of Gloria, are going to separate their loves. Knowing it, Ozma dispatch the Scarecrow to Jinxland. Can the Scarecrow stop King Krewl's plot? Do Gloria and Pon marry each other? How about Trot and Cap'n Bill?
<impression>
I couldn't follow the love story between Gloria and Pon. I don't think neither of them attractive so much. But I like this Gloria's words:"a young lady cannot decide whom she will love, or choose the most worthy. Her heart alone decides for her, and whomsoever her heart selects, she must love, whether he amounts to much or not." It's truth! Isn't it?
No10 Rinkitink of Oz (L.Frank Baum)
<story>
In Pingaree good pearls are produced, people live in affluence though they're afraid of Regos and Coregos's (the northern countries of Pingaree) menace. One day, King Rinkithink visit Pingaree from the neighboring his country with a goat. Kitticut, King of Pingaree, welcome them. The next day, the soldiers of Regos and Coregos attack Pingaree at last. They have overwhelming power! How Pingaree people save themselves? Can Prince Inga save his country? How about King Rinkitink?
<impression>
In Baum's Oz series, this story is a little bit different. The familiar characters hardly appeared. But very interesting.Prince Inga get over many crises with his courage and wit. I like him very much!
