Other Oz Stories

I know there are many oz stories besides the famous forty. I've read these following books.
The numbers before the titles are meaningless. Just for my note.

Invited by a famous Hollywood producer, a big oz fan, Dorothy and Scarecrow and Tin Woodan set off to New York. Traveling from Oz to New York seems quite difficult. To the place shown by the caluculation of Wogglebug, they travel through the land of Oz. As usual, they visit various towns and countries and make troubles and are involved troubles.
At last, Dorothy return to the United States after about 100 years. There, a plot waits for them.
How Dorothy and friends get over that?

I enjoyed many characters of Oz and others(Alice, Homes etc.). What people living in a fairy land Oz think when they see the real world? Very interesting, isn't it? I don't feel like that Ozma and Glinda use telephones and E-mails. Ah...Oz seems to progress in its own way.
I feel a soft atmosphere in this book. Everything goes well too much. But it means that you can read this book in peace. It's an important factor as a Oz story. Don't you think so?

For her green skin by nature, in her girlhood day's, Elphaba isn't be loved enough by her parants. But she grow up intelligently and enter a university of Gillikin. She met Glinda a thoughtless naive girl there as a room mate. They foster friendly relations though they are repellent each other. To resist a despotic ruler, the Wizard, coming to Oz by a balloon, Elphaba become a member of the underground activities. She fall in love, have a baby,...and is called " the Wicked Witch of the West" without her knowledge....

I'was very interested in this book Oz is not a fairy land but an ordinary country which has goverment and ecomony. I couldn't imagine such a life of the Wicked Witch of the West. Oz fan must read this book! You 'll love attractive Elphaba. At first I thought the evaluation should be five stars. But I reduced one star because of the lengthof the story. While the beginning of this book, I enjoyed it very much, but the story became gloomy little by little...I knew the last is not a happy end, of course.It's hard for me to keep reading because I was an admirer of Elphaba.

Dorothy lost her parents and came to Kansas to live with Aunt Em. She couldn't adapt herself to new life. She grieved, defyed, was out of step with the people, and then she became mentally exhausted. Only a young substitute teacher Baum noticed Dorothy's cry of pain in her mind, but he left school before he help her out. He , as compensation, wrote "The Wizard of Oz" Dorothy as a heroin. Later, a movie made from the book had a great success. But Dorothy didn't know that. She ended her life in a old people's home.

This book is not my taste but seems very good from a point of literary view. So the evaluation is three stars. When I read this book first time, I thought Dorothy was abused by Aunt Em and Uncle Henry, so I couldn't read to the end. But this time, I read it again, I think my feeling was wrong. Aunt Em overlaps with Marilla the character of " Anne of Green Gables". Anne lived together happily with Marilla so much and Dorothy couldn't do that with Aunt Em...but it's because of a slight defference.isn't it? Nobody shouldn't be blamed for Dorothy's life. They were ordinary people. It makes the story more sorrowful.
