Oz Movies

The most well-known oz movie in Japan is "The Wizard of Oz" starring Judy Garland. But "Return to Oz" is also popular and some movie fan know "WIZ".
The numbers before the titles are meaningless. Just for my note.
No1 "THE WIZARD OF OZ" (1939)
The best oz movie, isn't it? I saw this movie over twenty times. But every time I enjoy it! If you think you are an oz fan, you must see this movie!
I have a Laser Disk version and a DVD version in Japanese. You can find VHS version in some rental video shops.
No2 "RETURN TO OZ" (1985)
This movie is made by mixing "The Land of Oz" and "Ozma of Oz". Though "The Wizard of Oz" is the most well-known oz movie in Japan, there are many Japanese fans of this movie, too. If you are lucky, you can find VHS version in a rental video shop. But it seems quite difficult. I heard VHS version of this movie is not available.
No3 "WIZ" (1978)
"The Wizard of Oz" which all cast is black in and  the stage is present New York.
I've not seen it yet. I heard this movie is made from a musical. The leading actress is Diana Ross and the Scarecrow is Michael Jackson. I want to see it! But I can't find any versions in Japanese....
appendix : Oz in other movies
The movie "The Wizard of Oz" is very popular in USA, isn't it? Several years ago, when I said "I love oz!" to an American guy, he said "That movie! Every Christmas season, it is telecasted." He also said all American children have seen it at least once. I don't know it's true or not. Anyway, I can find oz in other movies. I found it several times but I didn't take a note, so I've forgotten all except...

"Gremlins 2"
A gremlin poured water and said "I'm melting, melting..."
